Personal reviews of recently read books

As the grand daughter of a Mississippi delta sharecropper, I felt connected to these characters in a personal way.  Kathryn Stockett intrigues her readers with the lives and times of the 1960s during the struggle for racial equality and humanization.  I laughed, cried, and sighed as I recalled my grandparents' stories of their struggle to be considered more than white trash during a time when people of color began to procure certain rights.  I MUST read!
(Thanks to Carmie for allowing me to borrow her book!)

Dot Hatfield has written her second intriguing novel.  To Find A Home is a journey of a girl who accidentally discovers she was adopted.  While reading her mother's journal, she realizes her daydreams are actual revelations of her past.  It's a MUST read!  Visit www.dothatfield.com

Since reading Steven Layne's This Side of Paradise with sixth graders at Beebe Middle School six years ago, I've been eagerly waiting to read more about Jack Barrett and his not-so-normal family who live in "Paradise."  Well, I've read his new book, Paradise Lost, which will be released JANUARY 2011, and you do NOT want to miss it.  WARNING:  It is a cliff hanger and I'm already waiting with positive anticipation for the final book in this series.  Thank you, Dr. Layne for listening to us, your readers!
